Living history program slated
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - A snapshot of life in the 19th century will be presented during a living history event Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Klamath County Museum.
Free film showing offered by museum
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Klamath County Museum will host a free showing of “The Crossing” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. The film portrays the desperate gamble taken by Gen. George Washington and the Continental Army to surprise British mercenaries during the Christmas of 1776.
Weaving workshop offered at Museum
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A workshop on weaving methods used by Northwest Indigenous peoples will be presented Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at the Klamath County Museum. Two classes will be offered, with one on making pine needle baskets, and the other on tule mats.
Walking history tour of Main Street offered
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - A walking history tour of a section of Main Street east of the railroad underpass in Klamath Falls will be offered by the Klamath County Museum at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.
County museums open July 4
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – All three public museums operated by Klamath County will be open Tuesday, July 4.
Tour of Mount Dome offered
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A driving tour around Mount Dome in Siskiyou County will be offered Saturday, June 17, by the Klamath County Museum. The tour will include several miles over primitive roads, and is not recommended for passenger cars. High-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles are advised. Space on the tour is limited.
Museum repairs antique fire truck
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – An 80-year-old fire truck that last saw action on the Klamath Indian Reservation more than 60 years ago will make its first public appearance in the May 29 Memorial Day parade in downtown Klamath Falls.
Bus tour to feature Modoc War sites
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - A bus tour to historic sites associated with the Modoc Indian War of 1872-73 will be offered Saturday, April 1. The all-day tour will begin and end in Klamath Falls, with stops at several sites where incidents occurred before, during and after the war.
Three Modoc War films to be shown
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Three films that recount events in the Modoc Indian War of 1872-73 will be shown at the Ross Ragland Theater in Klamath Falls starting at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 25.
Women in local history program
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - A program examining the role of women in the Klamath Basin during war years will be presented Sunday, March 19, at the Baldwin Hotel Museum, 31 Main Street in Klamath Falls.
History of Modoc War reviewed
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The methods by which society remembers a 19th-century war that claimed nearly 90 lives in the Upper Klamath Basin will be the topic addressed in a panel discussion scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main Street in Klamath Falls.
Modoc War exhibit open
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Documents and artifacts dating to the time of the Modoc Indian War of 1872-73 are featured in a new temporary exhibit that opened Friday, Nov. 25, at the Klamath County Museum. The opening is timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the first battle in the conflict that claimed dozens of lives in the Upper Klamath Basin.
Modoc War tours offered
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Additional dates have been set for a popular auto tour of Modoc Indian War sites being offered this fall by the Klamath County Museum. A tour is being offered on the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 29, which will mark 150 years to the day since the first battle in the war was fought near the town of Merrill.

Tour of Linkville Cemetery offered
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - A walking tour of Linkville Cemetery will be offered at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, by the Klamath County Historical Society. Society members will discuss about a dozen early-day residents of Klamath County who are buried in the pioneer cemetery.
History of county fairgrounds subject of program
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The history of the Klamath County Fairgrounds will be explored in a presentation to be offered at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Blue Building at the fairgrounds.
