RRT Kicks off 34th season with The Junebugs

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Ross Ragland Theater kicks off its 34th season with a fun and exuberant band, The Junebugs.

"Every year, the Ragland picks out a few options of people they would like to invite to do their opening show. The Junebugs were a band most members wanted to hear," says Christy Ruegger, Operations Director for RRT.

Based out of Portland, Oregon, the trio of musicians travel all over the country playing in various settings - from fairs, to theaters, beer tents to corporate events. This band has a style of music that will get you grooving in and out of your seat.

Not only did the band play dozens of songs throughout the 2-hour experience, but the lead singer, Moses Barrett, had a way of captivating the audience with witty gestures and little details between each set. Short stories of their travels on the road as friends, feelings of coming home after a long tour, memories of playing guitar with his dad and carrying on traditions of changing the words to a song to include the name of bass guitarists, Nathaniel Daniel's son, filled the room with laughter and sighs of admiration.

The artists came out during intermission to socialize with their fans and sell some of their albums and merch.

People could be heard chatting about how much they enjoyed the show and how happy they were with their experience. When asked if they're enjoying the show, a little girl who came to see it with her grandmother excitedly says, "Yes!" while grandma chimes in with a nod, saying, "She’s loving it, dancing and everything. It's very fun to see."

The band was a crowd-pleaser, and their hearts showed so much kindness and gratitude to the Ross Ragland Theater for welcoming them to play there. Throughout the concert, they consistently promoted the Ross Ragland and thanked the viewers for coming and being such a fun crowd.

I’m sure everyone knows how groovy folk music is, but I sure didn't. These funky musicians really had a way of engaging people of all ages. The original songs the Junebugs wrote and sang were sentimental and catchy. I can also say I really enjoyed their renditions of popular songs like "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5, "Use Me" by Bill Withers, "Party In The USA" by Miley Cyrus, "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift, and "No Diggity" by Blackstreet and Dr. Dre.

Their dynamic music allowed each instrument to fade in and out, creating a fun, unique experience of musical talent. And to top it all off, It’s not very often that you see a drummer singing along with the rest of the band, a fan noted. The drummer, Kyle Owen, looked at them and said with a smile and a laugh, "I’m very unique and special, remember that."

The Junebugs were an excellent way for the Ross Ragland to start their upcoming season of events.

Next up on October 15 is the Klamath Community Band will be performing Godzilla Eats Las Vegas. Featuring Halloween-themed music and costume attire encouraged.

Shortly after, on October 21, Michael Grandinetti, magician and illusionist, will appear on the grand stage, welcoming guests to experience a show where "nothing is impossible."
