Danae Bennett-Miller was born in Connecticut. Her love of sculpture and animals took her to the University of New Hampshire, where she earned her BFA. She received her MFA in sculpture from the University of Washington.  She is a nationally recognized sculptor of western wildlife. Danae once stated “I’ve always felt most alive in the company of animals. Her intensely stylized figures distill the essence of “wild.” In Danae’s renderings, outward appearances are shed and animals are stripped down to their spiritual skeletons. The result is western sculpture reinvented—raw, primal, and profoundly alive. Danae’s talismanic animal sculptures have been privately commissioned by collectors in many states and by the cities of Bend and Sisters in Oregon. From her studio on her ranch in Tumalo, Oregon she also makes monoprints using her own press. Danae lives in Tumalo, Oregon, with her husband and son. The family raises grass-fed beef using working horses and traditional methods.

Numerous periodicals have featured his work including American Art Collector, Southwest Art Magazine and Western Art Collector. When David received the Award of Excellence/Icons of the West 2014, Southwest Art Magazine wrote, “Mensing’s landscapes go beyond mere visual description. They depict a feeling, an experience, and contain an element of sincerity and reverence.” David lives in Sisters, OR with his wife and children. (www.davidmensingfineart.com)
