KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The blissful aroma of sugar and spice fills the Ross Ragland lobby as the Klamath Snowflake Festival Gingerbread Contest has set up shop now through December 9. Many one-of-a-kind confectionery creations have tested the skills of local crafty artisans.

The theme for this year’s contest is “Superheros” and several creators took that to heart showcasing displays honoring police and fire.

Divisions for the contest included sections for - Preschool, 1-3rd grade, 4-6th grade, 7-9th grade, 10-12th grade, Adults, Families, and Organizations.

According to the rules, all entries must have been “built to code.” Creators were free to use their imagination to construct the sweet displays as long as the display was completely edible. All creations had to provide a list of materials used in construction. The gingerbread used, must have been homemade. No pre-baked, pre-packaged, or kit materials were allowed.

“We are so honored to host the annual gingerbread completion again this year. It is a privilege we at the Ragland enjoy,” said Natalie Postels, marketing director for the Ross Ragland Theater and Klamath Snowflake Festival board member. “The sweet smells in the lobby are amazing to enjoy - and the submissions are well done this year.

The public is invited to view the gingerbread houses now through December 9, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A private judging session took place last Saturday. Winners will be announced in an awards ceremony on December 10 at 11:00 AM.
