KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Registration is now open for the Youth Theater Summer Camp at the Ross Ragland Theater for youth ages 10-18. The camp is offered for three full weeks from July 24th to August 11th with full day sessions Monday-Friday from 8:30AM - 3:30PM.

Students will explore the world of theater while deep diving into a full musical production with this year’s play “Disney’s The Lion King Jr.”. The camp provides students the chance to learn the skills needed to run a show both behind the scenes and on stage. Some of these skills include basic theater etiquette, staging, singing music and dancing, they will also have the chance to dive into Improv, making set/props, costumes, tech for sound and video, and backstage crew.

“The Ross Ragland's summer camp is so much fun. In just three weeks, we are able to pull together an entire show”, says Jeff Press, the Director of Youth Theater Camp, “One of the other great things about camp is that we find a role for every kid. It's a great experience for kids who have done theater before, as well as first timers!”

This summer camp production is looking to enroll 60-80 students to bring the play to life. High School juniors and seniors may also apply for an internship and learn additional skills on how to organize, plan, and run a theater production. Young thespians have the chance to work as a team and put on final performances happening August 12th at 2PM and 5:30 PM for the community.

Disney’s The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, giving a new fun twist to the classic film . The African savannah comes to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale. The Lion King JR. features classic songs from the Broadway musical and animated feature film, including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.”
