KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The heart and soul that has gone into bringing this childhood favorite to life is truly remarkable to witness. Matilda the Musical is a nostalgic experience you do not want to miss.

Director Richard Hoffman found the pressure of portraying a story filled with a large ensemble of different emotions to be the most challenging. "…if we do this well, it should really kick your gut," he said boldly. "But the story is just so precious, it's just so beautiful. It's unlike any other story you'll ever see."

Matilda the Musical is a story about an extraordinary little girl with extraordinary powers. The daughter of abusive parents, Matilda finds refuge in library books and in creating her own stories. Matilda finds things difficult at school where the headmistress, believes “children are maggots.” Matilda gains bravery in standing up to the adults in her world and in doing so earns her own remarkable powers.

This story alone is bound to attract new and repeat guests. However, it is the local cast that steals the show. First-time actress Daisy McClay who plays Matilda, and longtime actor Cyrus Hamilton who plays the roles of the doctor and escapologist will both entertain, captivate, and engross the audience.

The full cast is 30 volunteers and 30 actors deep. They are excited to finally show off their hard work and share the magical moments they had portraying the life of this miss understood child with everyone.

"We always have to have people who want to watch it and do it, you got to have both in order for the show to go on." says RRT Executive Director and show choreographer, Samantha Burris. Community involvement is how Ross Ragland thrives and each community production relies on volunteers.

Volunteers with a wide variety of skills are always needed. The tech team, props and art designers, costume seamstresses, ushers, ticket takers, actors, and audiences are all essential to making the shows what we know and love.

As of the time of publishing'; Matilda the Musical has two of its three total performances remaining. Saturday, July 8 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, July 9 at 2:00 PM. Tickets start at $10. Visit ragland.org for more info.
