Klamath Marsh photo exhibit at Modoc Gallery

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Photographs of the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge taken by Judith Hassen will be exhibited in the Klamath County Museum's Modoc Gallery through May and June. The marsh, with some of its isolated features and surroundings, is shown in different seasons.
The Klamath Marsh refuge covers about 40,000 acres located roughly 50 miles north of Klamath Falls. The refuge headquarters is located about 17 miles east of Highway 97 on the Silver Lake Road.
According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the marsh area was densely populated by Klamath tribal villages.
Hassen, former manager of the Klamath County Museum, captured images that focus on plants such as wocus, willow, tule, cattails, ponderosa pine, and aspens.
“Mostly the exhibit looks at the marsh as a marvelous place, full of color and variety, clouds and water,” Hassen said. “These photographs celebrate the beauty that is the Klamath Marsh.”
Admission to the Modoc Gallery is free during regular museum hours, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
