Free admission days planned at Museum

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Klamath County Museum will offer free admission on the first Friday of each month through the winter.

In addition to free admission, the museum on Friday, Nov. 3, will offer a back-room tour of its storage areas, including rooms where archives and artifacts are kept. The tour will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The museum will be open regular hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day.

A presentation titled “Logging History – Big Logs, Sharp Saws” will be offered at noon on Friday, Nov. 3. Visitors are invited to bring a lunch with them and eat while watching the program.

“We have hundreds of great photos of logging activity from back in the days when there were no chain saws, no Caterpillars and no log trucks,” said Museum Director Todd Kepple. “We’ll try to explain how they managed to move huge old-growth timber with draft animals, steam power, and sheer muscle.”

The Nov. 3 program will focus primarily early methods of falling and bucking old-growthtrees.

Other programs will be offered on free first Fridays in December, January and February.
