Emergency Preparedness Fair planned for August 26
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Jolene Newman, a graduate student intern with Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services, in partnership with local community resources, is holding an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Friday, August 26th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Klamath County Fairgrounds in Linman Hall.
The fair will include representation from the American Red Cross, the Klamath County Fire District 1, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, the Klamath Falls Police Department, and others.
The Fair is designed to bring awareness to Emergency Planning and Preparedness for individuals experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as the Klamath County community as a whole. Emergency supplies will be provided for community members to help establish their own preparedness kits, while event supplies last.
The first hour of the fair will be dedicated solely to individuals supported by Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services. The Fair will be open to the general public from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
A raffle for emergency supplies will be held, with prizes including water purifiers, sleeping bags, non-perishable food items, and more.
A fire truck will be on display and Smokey the Bear will be making an appearance at noon.
"We are grateful for the partnerships that are making this opportunity available for the Klamath County community. The last two and half years have brought a variety of unforeseen events,” said Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services Director Dr. Myles Maxey. “This emergency preparedness fair will provide information and resources in one location to help individuals experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and support teams to become more informed and prepared, as well as all citizens of Klamath County."
Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services invites all community members and community partners to attend and help make this Fair a great success!
