Blues, brews, and a good time

Broadway Phil and the Shouters provided live music for the second half of the event.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The sounds of blues music, laughter amongst friends, and waves splashing against the shore created the perfect ambiance for the 22nd Annual Brats, Brews, & Blues Festival.

Attendees partook in the many activities with a cold drink in hand. Local brewers Mia & Pia’s and Skyline Brewing Company poured a perfect frosty beverage on the hot summer day. A few people found the assortment of items at the silent auction intriguing. At the same time, many more were captivated by the live auction with several high-paced bidding wars.

Most spectators lounged in the cool shaded lawn adjacent to the parking lot, while a few relaxed and enjoyed the event from their boats in the docks.

According to Jack Baumann, a charter member of the Klamath Basin Sunrise Rotary Club for over 25 years, this event is their largest fundraiser of the year. Much of the proceeds go to Camp Evergreen, which provides grief counseling to children who have recently lost a loved one. The rotary club has also helped provide clean water for people in Tanzania for over ten years.

The Klamath Yacht Club generously provided the venue at no cost since they fully support the Rotary Club’s vision. Another long-term festival supporter is Grants Pass blues icon Broadway Phil and the Shouters. The musicians have been on board and regularly providing their talent to the event for over 20 years.

An estimated 250 or more participants attended. Each attendee’s entry fee went to the fundraiser. When speaking of the public’s attendance, Baumann said, “Our club has a primary mission of supporting youth in the community, and this fundraiser helps us do just that.”

The Brats, Brews, and Blues Festival runs annually on the 2nd Saturday in August.
